Cooperation > Inter-insular cooperation
To safeguard the cooperation in the field of culture and cultural heritage in the Netherlands Antilles after the political changes in October 2010, NAAM prepared and signed a cooperation protocol in 2009 with the government of the Island Territories of Bonaire, Saba and St. Eustatius.

The Protocol concerns the exchange of knowledge, education regarding cultural heritage, documentation and the preservation of collections and sites, transfer of knowledge for digitalization and an international network.

The purpose of this inter-insular Caribbean cooperation is to:
a) broaden and deepen the knowledge and experience in the field of culture and cultural heritage
b) to minimize the dependence and maximize the defensibility with regard to external recommendations in the field of culture and cultural heritage
c) to acquire and increase specific knowledge on the local and inter-insular situation in the field of cultural heritage, management and enrichment of knowledge about 5000 years of habitation history
d) to increase inter-insular forms of cooperation in a Caribbean perspective. Concrete forms of assistance and cooperation will be realized on a project basis.

The protocol being an executive arrangement, it was signed by Mr. R. Nolly Oleana, Commissioner of Education, Culture and Sports of Bonaire, Mr. Lionel Janga and Mrs. Alca St. Jago, respectively President and Secretary of NAAM in Bonaire.
