Education
Educational initiatives occupy a primary place in NAAM’ yearly schedule of activities and include:
1.Information activities for the general public:
Publication of
(series of) articles in local newspapers, highlighting cultural heritage sites and artifacts and discussing current heritage issues like benta and other musical instruments, African spirits behind catholic masks, Fort Beekenburg the living monument and the St. Maarten band Tanny and the Boys.
The organization of
seminars, lectures and lecture series about a broad range of themes to stimulate awareness of and knowledge about our collective heritage among a broad audience.
The set-up and organization of expositions on selected themes, such as the Exposition Free ports of the Caribbean: Curacao and Statia: an exhibition and interpretation of life in the flourishing sea harbors of Curacao and Saba 18th and early 19th century . 2.The organization of expertise building courses:
The organization of lectures and presentations for heritage institutions, civil servants and companies about topics such as the conservation, registration, digitalization and security of cultural heritage.
3.Development of educational materials for schools
